Promoting global health equity & social justice
GlobeMed is a national organization that enables college students across 54 chapters to partner with grassroots health organizations in an effort to improve the lives of people living in poverty by promoting global health equity and social justice. Each chapter places a strong emphasis on a long term partnership, allowing us to gain a deep understanding of our fellow communities' needs and gives us the tools to develop a lasting impact. These enduring, sustainable partnerships are at the heart of GlobeMed’s model of engaging students to learn about the health policy and infrastructure at the grassroots level of underserved communities.
Fundraising and on-site efforts at UTSA contribute to the promotion of public health in the Sacred Valley of Peru. Together, UTSA and our partner organization, Sacred Valley Health, work to collaborate on specific projects, organize a global health curriculum on campus, and coordinate summer internships to work on-site for a few weeks each year. To learn more about the GlobeMed network, visit the GlobeMed national website.
GlobeMed at UTSA is made up of a diverse group of students from all years and majors. As GlobeMed students, we have access to a vast network of resources and technology that we aim to thoroughly utilize as we target pressing issues in public health.
